News and New Website for Noni Films!

I'm happy to announce that our production company, Noni Films, has a new website!

There are a few more things we need to add (like our reel: something we need to update first), and a few more things. In the last week, we've gotten about 100 views, so we must be doing something right! (It doesn't hurt to have a family member who specializes in SEO and Online Marketing.)

We've got a bunch of things brewing and more things popping up every day. We're excited to volunteer to capture "behind the scenes" footage tomorrow at Barryfest 2009, Mana'o Radio's annual music festival/fundraiser. It's an incredible lineup this year and we'll be documenting everything going on backstage and behind the scenes with the cast and crew.

I'll be sure to fill you in on more about that, but for now, please find more regular updates about me and what I'm up to by clicking HERE.

The Obama Shaka and Zeppelin on the Ocarina

So, this morning - other than the obvious - I have two things to report:
  • Our new president threw a "shaka" at the inaugural parade. Then his daughters did too.

  • I've located a video of an Ocarina ensemble performance that is awesome and might (JUST MIGHT) cause me to trade in my Palm Centro for an iPhone. That performance is embedded below:

Global Citizen Media and Rural Maui Blogging = Shall We Make Friends?

I'm in the process of writing a grant proposal to the folks at Global Voices, more specifically - to their Rising Voices outreach program, designed to bring more folks from the developing world into the blogosphere - as writers, photojournalists, videographers, and podcasters. Their reason for this is the fact that a HIGH percentage of bloggers are elite folks (with money, resources, etc) from the developed world.

What remains to be seen: will they include Hawai's rural residents in the "developing world" category? They're certainly not part of Hawai`i's "elite".

Will keep you posted on the progress...in the meantime, enjoy my new glasses.

Okay, so we've known who the next president is for months now...

But that doesn't mean I'm bored with the idea already. I have friends who will be UP CLOSE AND PERSONAL during the swearing-in ceremony, and they're bringing back footage for me to play with! Yay!

Just thought I'd wish you all a Happy Chinese New Year. Did you know that it's the Year of the Ox this year, and Obama's an Ox? Auspiciousness abounding!

Apparently, this year we're all supposed to be like oxen: patient, slow-moving, and hard-working. (Hopefully this does not also pertain to my weight loss goals...) Nose the the grindstone, people. No sudden movements. Stick to what you're good at, and enjoy the benefits of hard work...the blood, sweat, and tears. Do you think Oxen complain about their work? No, they just do it.

Jocelyne gets to keep her home! Thanks to that video and the efforts of CODEPINK!

On Friday, ANP's wonderful media outreach and CODEPINK's community organizing effort combined and we were all able to stop the auction of her house!
